The correct way is to use Pitstop Professional plugin for Acrobat Professional.. This is an easy and fast solution. You can program a set of Global profiles to do what you need.

Default Use the rainbow colured colour converter

In acrobat 9 you can specify what you want to convert and how. RGB images to a specific CMYK profile is fine. I usually just convert all to output intent preserving blacks and pure colour, love it, does for me exactly what I want provided I use the correct output intent profile (in your case one with 240% Tac)

Acrobat 8 is also capable of doing what you want.

Contact me off-list (richard.apollo@okoffset.com) and I'll be happy to help you build a preflight profile.

Ken, as the Callas representative in North America I would be happy to provide you a webinar on how to use the built in preflight module in Acrobat Professional. Please contact me and we can set it up for whenever is convenient for you and your department.
