    Default indesign cs4 question

Not sure if this is something that can be done, but is there a plugin or something that would allow me to open a 50 page pdf and put each page on its own page based on the pdf page size setup. For example, i have a 50 page pdf. I would like to be able to just open the pdf with indesign cs4, rather then placing 50 pages. When I open the pdf, it would make a page for each page in the pdf as well as keep the page size, again coming from the original pdf document. Anything like this out there? I want it one up, so not looking for an imposition program.

    Hi wonderings,

You may want to take a peak at the the Automation palette in ID4. I believe there are some AppleScripts (Mac) or some Java scripts (Windows) in there and one them I believe will allow you to place a multi-page PDF into your ID document. I have never used the script so I do not know exactly how it works.

    Does this help?

Thanks! Exactly what I wanted was there, very simple and easy to use. Its called "PlaceMultiplePDF.applescript in the automation window, then under samples, then applescripts. Thanks again!

There are also scripts for adding crop and register marks (for manual impositions), naming images on a page (for random purposes) and more. I have yet to fully explore them all, but the few I do use come in very handy....
By the time I walk out of here, I'm going to be a lean, mean, prepress machine...

There's an excellent standalone utlity (Free) called "PDF Multipage Import (OSX)" too - Google it, it will change your life.

I can't get "PDF Multipage Import (OSX)" to work with CS4.

I like "PlaceMultiplePDF.applescript", but I'd like to import the PDF pages scaled (like at 92%).

You could PlaceMultiplePDF, output scaled to PS, PDF it, and PlaceMultiplePDF again...

What kind of problems are you having with "PDF Multipage Import (OSX)"? It works fine in CS4 for me in OS X 10.5.8. That scaling function is a lifesaver when customer files are built to the wrong size.

Are you sure you've got the OSX version? There is a very old "PDF Multipage Import" without the (OSX) in the name that doesn't work in newer versions of InDesign.
