    Default Problem with X-Rite

I am using Windows XP 64 bit edition for its large memory
capability. The difference in performance of Adobe CS4 is noticeable
and well worth the small cost of the DRAM chips.

I purchased ProfileMaker 4 and an EyeOne to color-manage the
    specialized imaging system we run.

X-Rite never offered a version of PM4 to run under 64 bit, even
though it was available when PM 4 was the current product. Their
current solution is to upgrade to PM 5 for $1000, or pay full list
price when the upgrade promotion runs out at the end of the month.

Can anyone suggest a profiling package that they have used under
Window XP 64 bit that works well and is supported by a company that
is a little more responsive than X-Rite?

VISTA is officially dead and a timed demo version of Windows Seven is
available for free download from MS. Even if you hire on as an
unpaid software tester you still have to pay for when the demo runs out.

I appreciate the knowledge and assistance of the experts gathered here.

    Thanks,

    ,
Not to sound unsympathetic, but a $1000 upgrade from PM4 to PM5 doesn't sound too unreasonable to me. PM4 has been long retired and any other profile making app would likely set you back far more.

Don't know if quato will fill your needs. Saw their products at drupa and they made an impression. You would need to contact them (don't know their price) Quatographic Technology GmbH

You might consider the DataColor Spyder3 Suite, which is $499 complete. It has an excellent colorimeter and the print profiling is very effective.

For input profiling for scanners and digital cameras you might consider, if needed, Lasersoft SilverFast with the IT-8 option.

Currently my preference for display calibration and profiling is ColorEyes Display Pro , made by Integrated Color Corp. Home of ColorEyes. It has definitely outperformed any other LCD display calibration and profiling software.
