    Default Printing Standard

    Hi there,

We are printer who wish to get PSO certification. We are new to this process and would like to hear your comments...

    1. What is the first steps towards PSO Certification?
    2. What profile should I use to convert input file (assuming there's RGB object inside the layout) into Press color space?
    3. I was informed that I have to use US Web Coated icc profile for my job but forgive me for my innocence, does this applies only to Plates? Or this applies also on proofer even if I have fogra profile loaded on my proofer controller?
    4. Do we have PSO handbook/manual that I can refer to? If yes, where can I order it?
    5. If my Press is aiming for ISO 12647-2 what is the the dot gain and solid densities that needs to be maintained for Type 1,2, 3, 4&5 stocks?
    6. How does fogra specification relates to ISO 12647-2?

Thank you so much for your help and advice. Cheers!

My advise would be to initially asses the viability of going ISO with your equipment vendors to ensure compliance.

Depending on your business size and your techincal ability this project is best managed by an acredited 3rd party, you can focus on the day to day running of your plant as well as see and learn how its done.

    regards

I`m not familiar with PSO certification, but know something about G7.
Both PSO and G7 are the method that made production up to ISO standard.
In G7,it states if you can keep your press in a ideal status, you can use standard GRACoL Icc to convert your profile, and for platemaking either proofing.Maybe in PSO it also can use standard icc in prepress workflow.
To achieve a eveness and typical press sample is difficult.
For the pso handbook, you may ask detail to Bvdm and Fogra organization.
In ISO 12647-2,it provide the standard ink lab value of each stocks, and also specified the aim dot gain value, you`d better check the ISO 12647-2 document, and read it carefully~
