Update!!!
A Continuation to the saga that is our X700...
I received an email the other day from the VP of Sales... This is their "solution".
Short story, the click goes from $0.046 to $0.049. Payment goes up $50.00/month. Buy a USED black and white that I can get on the Repo Market for $4,000 for $18,000 and pay a $0.011 click for B/W prints that should be $0.005. Sounds like a fair deal! Now to the best part... The "purchase" price! (For once we finance the machine.)
Configuration:
-Xerox 700
-Free Flow with Spectrophotometer and "FREE" upgrade to Professional PKG option.
-Light Production "C" Finisher with Booklet Maker
-2 Tray Oversize High Cap Feeder
PRICE: $79,899.00!
Also of note, I got them to give me totals of all parts/supplies that have been written off to our account. They only forgot to account properly for the stuff sitting on my shelf in my office, the warrantied parts (didn't reach end of life), and the parts that were pulled from my machine and installed in another. Once you account for those, I show them making a $193.00 profit vs. a $3,000 loss that they are complaining about.
I will keep you posted but we meet with the lawyer tomorrow at 10:00am. I love the X700 but it looks like I'll be getting a KM6501 to replace this (for under $40,000).

Sounds like everyone has offered you a fair deal on new machines. If you can get along with the lower quality on the KM6501 it would be the way to go. I've seen some fairly decent work come off of the 6501, but it does not put out the quality in the solids or in the tints on coated paper, that the 700 does. The price they offered you on the 700 is at least 15% below list price. The .049 click charge is the national charge for the 700 on FSMA.

I am sorry, but you didn't read the thread start to finish... They are requiring I buy a used4110 with several million clicks already on it for $18,000 cash (I don't want it!). I have a contract in place for $0.046/click yet they think they can change the click and monthly payment despite the contract stating everything was fixed for 3 years. Not to mention the $0.011 click charge on a production B/W machine!
This is not a fair deal. I, and the service provider, signed a contract. If I were losing money on the contract do you think they would let me change the terms to my liking willy, nilly? I don't, nor does my attorney.
I won't argue, the X700 is a better box then the KM6501 from a graphics standpoint.

Follow up...
I don't know if you follow Larry Hunt's newletter, but the Nov Issue had a quote for a X700, FreeFlow, Profiler Kit (mine doesn't) 1 drawer oversize high cap, and professional finisher for $42,200. You can't tell me the 2nd drawer and the Rip are $37,000 in upgrades!

That quote is just not possible. One thing to remember, is that every deal is unique. List Prices are the same, but there are many variables to determine the final price to YOU.
Larry Hunt has very good inside information, but sometimes the quotes provided are really off (Xerox and non-Xerox).
