    Default Ricoh C751, C901 & Xerox 770

We are in the early stages of looking at a new digital press. I have seen samples from both the Ricoh C901 and Xerox 770. I'm preferring the print quality of the Xerox better as it looks less like digital in most cases.

Still unsure about the front and back registration on the Xerox 770?

Also what's the difference between the C751 and C901 apart from price?

I don't own a 751, but demoed both machines before we bought our c8000(wish we hadn't at this point). Biggest thing with the 751 is it can't duplex over 256 gsm. Thats a deal killer for me. If you can't print think postcards/BCs. Its not worth thinking about.

    Hi CJ

Sounds like the c8000 was a bad choice?

The book says the C751 will duplex 256. Did you actually try it out?

256 is as high as it goes. I did demo the machine. It did that fine. but honestly in todays market in my opinion its not enough. 300 gsm is the minimum that I would accept at this point.

I duplex Carolina c2s 12 point all the time on our 651, yes it is out of spec but I was trained how to set the paper up to run it. I was told this was being done on the 901s with no problems.

You can always just manually duplex it. I have customers that do all the time with no issues.

The specs for the 901 say it will auto duplex 300 gsm we were puzzled as to why the 751 only says 256 the paper path isn't much different.

The 901 can have more accessories than a 751. In the 901 the housings for the cleaning units are aluminum in the 751 they are plastic but I can't see why metal would be better for that. There are other parts in the 901 that are metal vs plastic in the 751 but nothing that would really make the machine better. The 901 has more controller options two fierys and a creo.

Unless there is an option you need that is only available on the 901 the 751 is probably a better buy.
Warning I am a Ricoh tech.

We recently traded in both of our C900's for a 651EX and a C901. Currently duplexing 256+ GSM on both without any issues. Especially when using tray 4 on the 651EX which is a straight travel path.

Love the quality of both machines and I'm finally happy to have machines without fuser oil.
