Xmf
We're having XMF installed the week of January 12th. I understand we're either the first or one of the first in the US to get this. That's a little scary although it's been in Europe and Australia for quite a while. We've been running EFI's Velocity OneFlow for about 6 years and we're anxious to automate things a bit more.

Hi Craignhp
We have had XMF 1.5.8 installed for about 3 months and I must say although it has some good features - APPE ripping is very fast - Handling of Transparency and Layers is good, but we have had quite a few problems - the client crashing, the interface not viewing correctly which has been very frustrating. We were using ApogeeX which was much better and if our upgrade to XMF 2.0 does not solve the problems we have had we will be looking going back to Agfa or somethng else.
I would be interested on how you get on. I have been looking for a forum on XMF and this is the first I have seen.

We'll be installing 2.0, so I'll let you know how it goes. I'm keeping our current workflow running just in case.
Thanks,

I spoke to a techrep who says they had huge problems with client crashing unexpectedly with version 1.5. Local distributor would not even install XMF during the fall untill this was fixed. Which it reportedly is in version 2, we will soon know, our installation begins Monday...

Xmf 2.0
We have had XMF 2.0 installed for a couple of weeks now and the client is still crashing. We have had 15 crashes between 2 mac's in the last week and although 15 crashes is about a third of what we were getting with XMF 1.5.8 we have not been as busy as before XMF 2.0 was installed.
Anyone else still having this problem with XMF 2.0

Which machines are you using? We´ve just installed on some G5s and some IntelMacs and we have crashes, maybe once a day, with the G5s. IntelMacs haven´t crashed yet.

We are using 3 Macs:
G5 Dual 2Ghz, 2GB Ram Crashed on XMF 1.5.8, but no crashes so far on 2.0
G5 Dual 2Ghz (slightly later G5 than Above, 2.5 GB Ram - crashing on both versions
Intel 2.8Ghz Dual Quad Core, 4GB Ram - Crashing both versions.
Also still getting a lot of preview problems, and a new one in XMF 2.0 - Some Imposition templates made in XMF 1.5.8, when opened in XMF 2.0 the paper size is not centre on the plate as before.
Have you had this or any other problems?.

We're getting an occasional crash on both the G5 Mac and the Intel Mac. Stable on the Windows machines. Fuji knows it's an issue and I guess they're working on it.

Fuji told us that XMF 2.0 is more robust - IMHO its not and hope they sort it soon.
