I have had a Xante Ilumina for a year. I bought the Ilumina because of it's ability
to handle envelopes, which it does well.
I do have other issues with Xante about technical support and cost of consumables.
    I am working on them

    Default Xante Contact

    Hi padraig,
Thank you for your post and feedback!

I'd be happy to take a look at your service history and concerns if you send me some contact information. We are constantly watching consumables market prices to ensure our customers get a fair deal. We are very conscientious about balancing the requirement for our customers to run profitable jobs with our equipment and the requirement for us to maintain a healthy company. I'd be happy to discuss if you give me a call. I will email this message to you as well.

    Cheers,
    Scott Reese

    Default Indeed Welcome Xante Forum

Wonderful, now Xante users will be able to discuss our triumphs and issues with their product without having to wade through all the other forums here at Print Plant.

I currently have two of their products: the Ilumina and the Platemaker 5. I will certainty be giving by 2 cents worth.

I do agree with padraig in regards to the highly priced consumables for the Ilumina. What is particularly frustrating is how many different items need to be replaced on a regular basis, such as, toners (ouch on the price for the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow), the fuser (which seems to get much much less mileage than is advertised--like half the life), there is the four different drums (one for each color) and now I need to deal with the transfer belt and the waste cartridge. When you add all these consumables up it can take away any profit for the month should a majority of them need to replaced in that month--which I've had to do several times. I do understand Xante needing to make a profit and Mr. Scott T. Reese I do appreciate your willingness to address these issues.

As for technical support. I have had very good experiences with their phone support. But it sure helps that I have a lot of technical experience. I can see if one does not have much experience with computers, printers and software, one would find Xantes' support daunting. I do not like that fact that I can not get support after 3pm eastern time--we're on the west coast with 3 hours of operation after Xante closes up shop.

The Ilumina does print envelopes and thick stocks very well and I have found that the registration is better than most other toner devices. My clients have been very pleased with its quality and our ability to print items we would not have been able to print before.

Finally, my wish list for the Ilumina would be an external RIP such as a Fiery. I know that finally Xante now offers a driver for their Symphony software (it took a while considering Xante bought RIP-It a while ago) and maybe this will be a good solution.

Once again Cory thank you for this new forum.

Gotta Platemaker 3 that has been almost bullet proof from day one! It fits its niche very well.

    Hi Jaime Z,
    Thank you for your post!

I would like to address each of the items you raised by having my support Director, Grady Yarbrough, give you a call to discuss each item.

Would that be acceptable for you?
    Kind Regards,
    Scott Reese

    Scott,

Grady and Tracy from Xante called last week regarding my post and the issue to the pricing for the consumables.

Grady was very helpful and enlightening in regards to the true life of the consumables. As Grady noted that advertising as to life for their consumables is based on an 8.5x11, 24# bond, with 5% coverage. In fairness to Xante all the toner based machines manufactures have similar methods for advertising their consumable use. So, my gripe would be more with the industry than with Xante. But, I urge Xante to take the lead in providing more realistic consumable usage.

I have been impressed with Xante's proactive approach in their tech support. Especially Tracy's concern for her customers' needs.

Hello eveyone I am Rob the owner or R & R printing & Mailing in VA
I have the Xante CL 30 which was a good machine
I wanted to run heavier stock up to 16pt So I called Xante and they put me in touch with a supplier. I got the fuser put it in and then ran 25 sheets and I got an error code 172
and the machine stopped. I called Xante and they told me it was the mother board
which cost $500.00 and ram chips which cost $750.00 each.
I told them that the machine goes through the motions and seems to want to work but it goes as far as Inatlzing stage and thats,
I called them back and they told me if I dont to buy from them then I should trash the machine and go some where else.
Xante offers poor service and are super expensive. Has any one had the same problem them and the same problem with machine
I would also like ot knwo what kind of memory can be installed in my machine.

    Thanks

    Rob

Update I spoke to Mr. Richardson in VA
who was very helpful and gave me a few Idea's which I am going to try.
If that goes well I will be talking to him about getting the Ilumina.
I don't understand why most large companies seem to treat the little guy with no respect, when it comes to service. As my companies grow so will my needs for better machines.
Any one feel the same way.

    Rob from R & R Printing & Mailing
